Gases

Gases.

For moms and dads:

There are studies that state that an excess of intraintestinal gases can cause excessive crying, which could be a consequence of carbohydrate malabsorption, which would increase the number of bacteria whose consequence would be an increase in fermentation in the colon area.

For healthcare professionals:

An excess of intraestinal air may be the cause of colic episodes, according to some studies. This increase in intestinal gas would be the consequence of aerophagia secondary to inconsolable and paroxysmal crying of babies with colic.

It could also be a consequence of a carbohydrate malabsorption due to a physiological immaturity in the secretion of GI hormones. This would produce an increase in the number of bacteria, which in turn would generate an increase in colonic fermentation.
